Kindergarten Readiness Workshop Learning to read is a child's most important academic task. Parents can provide a rich learning environment that develops pre-reading skills while having fun with their children. Hinkletown Mennonite School is offering all families in the community a free tool that will help make learning to read an exciting experience. |
HMS has developed a reading activity kit for parents who have children who will be five-years old by September 1, 2008. Families do not need to enroll a child to receive a kit. Children using the HMS reading activity kit develop essential skills and strategies so they become successful readers when they begin their formal school experience in kindergarten. HMS will make these resources available to all parents free of charge while our supply lasts.
Reading research has demonstrated that young children who know the names and sounds of alphabet letters and can produce them quickly are likely to succeed as readers. The HMS reading kit builds these and other important skills using games and activities your child will enjoy.
Our Reading Activity Workshop will be held on January 16. Please call the office at 354-7100 for more information. If you were unable to attend the workshop but would still like a reading kit, please call the office to make your request.
