The purpose of student council is to organize activities to encourage school spirit, community service, and spiritual growth within the school. Student Council also develops student leadership abilities. Qualifications of members include: willingness to learn, leadership and creativity, honesty and a sense of responsibility, and dedication.

EVENTS PLANNED BY STUDENT COUNCIL
Events for All Students
World Food Week - Student Council organizes and plans a non-perishable food drive for a local food bank and a fund raiser to support an aspect of foreign mission (usually in association with Mennonite Central Committee).
Color and Spirit Days - Students are encouraged to wear a specific color or item on a designated date to show school spirit. (See below for the list of the dates.)
Events for Elementary Students
Traditional Easter Egg Hunt (gr.K-1)
Scavenger Easter Egg Hunt (gr.2-3)
A Game Night at HMS (gr.4-5)
Middle School Activities
Barn Party - Student Council plans an active fun night for middle schoolers to play games, win prizes and grow together as a middle school group.
Mystery Meal - Student Council creates a theme and plans a mysterious dinner and activities around the theme. Students are often only told a few details about the night like what to wear and when to be at HMS.
Volleyball Tournament - Students are placed on teams and compete for medals and trophies.
End of the Year Picnic and Yearbook Signing - Students stay after school to play games, sign yearbooks and have a cookout.
