Tuition Assistance/Scholarships

The purpose of the HMS Scholarship Fund is  to keep our quality, Christ-centered education accessible and affordable to families in this community.

Your family is eligible for scholarships if you meet the following criteria:

A single parent with one child (age 21 or less): Up to $72,000 adjusted gross income

A married couple with one child: Up to $84,000 adjusted gross income

A married couple with two children: Up to $96,000 adjusted gross income

A married couple with three children: Up to $108,000 adjusted gross income.

For each additional child or dependent, $12,000 may be added.

 

General scholarships (K- Gr 8) are awarded based on the following guidelines:

Adjusted gross income (AGI):

Less than $20,000......Up to 80% of net tuition in scholarships

$20,000-29,999.........Up to 60% of net tuition scholarships

$30,000-49,999........Up to 40% of net tuition scholarships

$50,000-70,000........Up to 20% of net tuition scholarships

$70,000-maximum eligibility requirement...Up to 10% of net tuition in scholarships

Net tuition: scholarships are based on net tuition, which is tuition net of other support and discounts, such as church aid. 

 

Pre-K Scholarships

Pre-K scholarships are calculated separately from scholarships for Grades K-8.  Scholarships for Pre-K  will be determined based on the funding available.

 

Learning Support Scholarships are based on the following guidelines:

Adjusted gross income (AGI):

Less than $20,000...... Up to 100% of Learning Support Fees in scholarship

$20,000-29,999......... Up to 90% of Learning Support Fees in scholarships

$30,000-49,999........ Up to 80% of Learning Support Fees in scholarships

$50,000-70,000........ Up to 70% of Learning Support in scholarships

$70,000-maximum eligibility requirement...Up to 60% of Learning Support in scholarships

 

Pastor Scholarship

HMS offers a pastor scholarship to licensed or ordained pastors.  Please contact the development office for more information.  Call 354-7100 x 7 or email the Director of Marketing & Enrollment.

Special Need Scholarship

Any family who is experiencing an unusual financial hardship may request special consideration for scholarships.  These requests should be made in writing and submitted to the school office, Attention: Scholarship Committee.  Contact the Director of Marketing & Enrollment for more information. 

 

Funding

HMS scholarships are funded through the Education Improvement Tax Credit, a state of Pennsylvania tax credit available to incorporated businesses, partners in a partnership or limited liability companies.

These businesses can received up to a 100% tax credit against their PA income tax for contributions made to a qualifying scholarship fund.

Many local business owners have made generous contributions benefiting the HMS Scholarship program.

For the 2011/12 school year approximately $165,000 in scholarships were awarded to HMS families:

  • Over 65% of families received scholarships
  • Families received from $250 - $6,000 in scholarships awards to offset the cost of tuition
