Physical Education

Physical education includes developmentally appropriate activities and instruction that seeks to promote knowledge and awareness of manipulative, locomotive and non-locomotive skills, and that help students apply fitness principles that lay a foundation for a lifetime of active and healthy living. Strong emphasis is placed on the importance of caring for our bodies since they are the temples of the Holy Spirit.

Primary - Primary students develop the skills listed above through various games and stations where they learn to enjoy and participate in physical activity that can be applied outside of PE class (i.e. recess and after school).

Upper Elementary - At this level there is greater development of all skills along with the ability to apply them in more complex situations. Emphasis is placed on participating in regular physical activity to promote health and/or improve skills.

Middle School - Middle school students continue to develop the skills listed above as well as developing strategies in more advanced situations. Emphasis continues to be placed on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and establishing personal physical activity goals.
