Science can deepen one's appreciation of God and the marvelous design of His handiwork. Through science classes children will develop the ability and confidence to inquire about their environment, learn skills associated with scientific inquiry, and value their responsibility to live in harmony with nature.
Primary - In the primary grades, science is taught through a hands-on curriculum which integrates health concepts. Moving from the simple to the more complex understanding, specific areas in which scientific discovery are made are the senses, the seasons, plant and animal life, matter and energy, ecology and weather.
Upper Elementary - Grade three studies living things and their relationships, the relationship of the sun, earth and moon, and the basics of rocks and land forms. Fourth grade explores weather, the composition and movement of oceans, the world of plants and animals, and the properties of matter. Fifth graders study the forms and uses of energy, the solar system and stars, sound and light, and cells as the key to reproduction and classification.
Middle School - Sixth graders begin their year with an outdoor education field experience which involves the discovery of interactions in the living world such as simple organisms, animal and plant life and the role of ecology. They also look at the changing systems of the earth and its ecosystems along with interactions in the physical world. Seventh grade students study forces in action on the earth, energy at work, materials and resources of the earth, molecules in motion, and cellular life. Eighth grade experiences the world of electricity and magnetism, structures of atoms and molecules, the elements of the universe, and the changes in life and the earth over time, with emphasis on human life and reproduction.
